UniPhi 14.1 - Copy paste from Excel

UniPhi 14.1 is set for release on Wednesday and one of the cool little enhancements is a move away from file importing to copy paste importing. The benefit of this approach is the removal of the black box nature of the file upload. Many excel imports required tacit knowledge with regards to the named ranges used to import the data, the order of the fields and when they failed, required a lengthy debugging process to fix. Now, all a user needs to do is highlight the range of data they wish to import (even if this includes data not to be included), copy the range and then paste it into our new "Paste from Excel" window. The paste provides instant feedback with the end user being able to see what data will and won't be imported right after the paste action. In some instances, they can fix the data quality issue directly in the UniPhi excel paste window rather than going back to the source file.
highlight the cells you wish to import - no need to format for data to be ignored

Columns not required are ignored.

Instant feedback as to codes that don't exist and a host of other error handling responses

The breadth of this functionality includes:

Cash flow data for actual, forecast and budget
Whole of project budgets
Accounting transactions when accounting integration doesn't exist

This last feature enables Project Managers to get better access to the transaction data making up their actuals as Finance departments are able to send them extracts in excel and this data can then be managed within UniPhi leading to its end financial reports being leveraged across the portfolio.

UniPhi 14.1 - New outlook integration

One of the exciting new things to be released on 31st October is a new and improved outlook add-in. Our old plugin has served us well and is now 10 years old. It has been used extensively by our clients to create issues and documents from emails and track correspondence to and fro in relation to the issue/activity/document. The new add-in has a completely different look and feel, bringing it in to line with our upgraded web application interface.

The new add-in serves the same purpose but is a whole lot sexier in doing so, including:

1) Support for both web or thick client, enabling you to save issues from your browser or on the desktop.
Browser view of the Outlook plugin on the right-hand side of the email (no longer a pop up).

2) Deployed through Office 365 marketplace, making it easier to distribute to our end users. Just browse the marketplace and add.
Add the Outlook add-in from the marketplace
3) Remembers what emails you've saved so you can click through and see the updated status of the issue/document from within Outlook.
Clickable link to the document or issue just created is remembered.

4) Threads conversations so there's less noise in the comment of the issue

Three dots highlighted represents a threaded email that is probably below

5) Strips images that are embedded as email signatures making the related files of an issue and uploaded files of a document more relevant.

Images in emails are stripped from the file attachments.

6) Supports 64-bit outlook

Install the add-in on office 32-bit or 64-bit

And the even more exciting thing is that this is just the beginning with the platform providing us a host of round two improvements including:
  • Support for mobile
  • Automatically adding email replies as comments to the linked issue/document
  • Selecting which attachments to add to the issue/document
  • And much more once end users get to tell us what they want.

UniPhi 14.1 - A mini release due 31st October 2018

We noticed some low hanging fruit that didn't quite make the deadline following the successful release of UniPhi 14. This has led to our first .1 release in a few years. We will be launching 14.1 in November 2018 with the following key features set to hit your deployment:

UniPhi plugin in the Outlook marketplace

The research undertaken to upgrade our existing plugin to work in a 64-bit environment as part of the 14 release led us to realise that there's some awesome new capability in the Office 365 plugin marketplace. To leverage this, we have created a new plugin that will improve the user experience and enable emails accessed through the web browser and phone to be saved into your UniPhi application. Other  enhancements is the stripping out of embedded files and better threading of the conversation in the UniPhi comment thread.

Mobile access enhancements

Our UniPhi 13 release saw the introduction of our new richer interface. The platform used for this interface has great capability to handle different screen resolution sizes dynamically. However, there are still many decisions to be made to take advantage of this capability. UniPhi 14.1 will have all these decisions made and will allow our users to enjoy accessing UniPhi on their phone as much as they do on their laptop or desktop.

Expanded accounting integration

UniPhi 14.1 will come with a debtors and creditors dashboard, as well as, automated updating of the paid flag for customer and supplier invoices. This functionality will be supported out of the box for our entry level integrations of Xero and MYOB.

UniPhi in the PowerBI marketplace

PowerBI is the future of big data analytics and UniPhi is the now for big data capture. The two are a great marriage and the 14.1 release will include our first marketplace app that users can access to get our out of the box dashboards covering; practice management, benchmarking, risk management, issues management, time management and integrated summaries.

Paste from excel

One of the coolest little widgets we've created in years, is the ability to now highlight a range of cells in excel and just copy paste the data into UniPhi. This has been developed for cash flow and budgets and is part of our 14.1 release. The functionality works at the project, program and portfolio level.

Small tweaks to user interface for an enhanced experience
Improvements include tweaks to bulk updating, new navigational structures, enhanced personal profiles and more.

These features will hit the marketplace in November and we will dedicate a blog entry to each one in the latter part of October as a count down to go live!
